Cotton/foam combo cleanroom swabs are engineered to blend the best traits of two proven substrates. An open-cell polyurethane foam outer head provides a soft, fiber-free contact surface with excellent cushioning, while an internal cotton bud increases sorbency and structural support. The result is a swab that picks up liquids and residues quickly, wipes without scratching, and maintains a stable tip for precise cleaning.

These combo swabs are widely used in cleanrooms and labs for detail cleaning of tools, fixtures, and components, spot-applying or removing solvents (IPA, acetone, and other common chemistries), surface sampling in less-critical controlled areas, and general cleaning in tight or recessed spaces where wipes can’t reach. Many styles use high-porosity foam (often ~100 PPI) to boost liquid retention and particle entrapment and are available with wood or polymer handles depending on chemical/heat needs.
