What Item in Your Cleanroom Is a Must
Posted by SOS Cleanroom on 27th Apr 2017
There are so many moving pieces that contribute to the functionality of a cleanroom, and if you’re running one or working in one, then you know this to be true. Even the smallest of pieces require understanding, training, attention to detail and are fundamental pieces in each project. While all of these pieces do play an incredibly important part in your cleanroom, some of them are more necessary than others. It’s not that any part of the products you have aren’t useful, but which part of your supplies are you going to depend on most when you worry about whether or not a space is clean?
We’ve thought about this question, long and hard. It makes it difficult since we offer so many different products and each of them proves to be extremely beneficial at one point or another. For this we decided to focus on three specific products and determine from there which one was going to be the most important one to have in a cleanroom space. The three products that we used are ones that are going to be in every cleanroom, regardless of the focus and project going on. These three products are:
- Engineered Garment
- Nitrile Gloves
- Polyester Wiper
These three products are all designed and constructed to provide a tool that will keep your cleanroom safe from contaminants. Your microporous garment has been crafted from engineered fabric, the natile gloves you use almost always, and of course, the polyester wiper with a heat-sealed edge. These three products are the most commonly found items in a cleanroom, but which one offers you the most support. Here is what we took into consideration.
Nitrile Gloves
These are used nearly every day when people are working in a cleanroom> They are common, and depending on the product, your need for the glove will differ. For example, the blue dyed gloves can lose pigment that could create negative effects the strength and durability of your glove. Depending on what types of chemicals and products you’re working on, you may be better off investing in one of the gloves that doesn’t have pigmentation so that you don’t have to worry about this down the road.
Engineered Garment
The garments used in cleanrooms are constructed to create a barrier between you and the room itself. This barrier makes it possible for you to stay protected, on some level, from the chemicals and products in the room, and to minimize the chances of any particles that you interact with outside of the cleanroom, to contaminate the space. That being said, this garment is likely the most important one that you’ll have in your cleanroom, right?
Polyester Wiper
When it comes to managing the amount of particles left behind in the room. With the heat-sealed edge, there’s no way that any leftover particles are going to be released. When you’re working in a secured space like a cleanroom, this tiny detail could be the biggest difference between all other products, and make it the one product that is most useful to have in a cleanroom. But is this the one item that is going to prove to be the most beneficial for teams that are working hard to keep the space they have free from debris?
So which item is it? The truth is, if you aren’t using the highest quality of each of these products, then none of the others are any better. With nitrile gloves that have pigmentation that can negatively affect your products, a garment that collects dust or loses fibers, and a wiper blade that can’t hold onto any of the particles that it collects, you have a contaminated cleanroom. Each product that you use, included the three products that are most commonly found in a cleanroom, need to be effective.
As we conducted this study, we found that these three products that most cleanrooms will have also happen to be the products that are usually not compliant with the standards of a cleanroom. There are easy to find substitutes that will be advertised as more affordable while offering the same grade. Make sure that when you are looking for products for your cleanroom, you aren’t sacrificing quality. When you sacrifice quality, you also sacrifice the contamination of any project that will take place in that room.
