Clean Rooms Supplies Fighting a Multi-Front Battle
19th Jan 2016
In a clean room there are many fronts in the battle against contaminants. Clean room supplies are an integral part of maintaining the highest level of cleanliness that ensures the quality of the products being manufactured in the clean room. But there are other systems that have to be functioning properly to make sure that clean room supplies are not carrying the heaviest burden of keeping the clean room prestine. We’ll cover the the different systems that must be in place to keep a clean room clean.
Cleanroom Supplies
- Sampling swabs need to be manufactured with a complete thermal bond to eliminate the possibility of adhesive contamination when being used to pick up a sample. TEXWIPE swabs are made this way to ensure that the sampling process does not introduce yet more contaminants. TEXWIPE can also manufacture custom swabs to your specifications.
Air Quality Systems
- Air filtration systems using HEPA filters are used on air before they enter the cleanroom air system.
- Specific temperatures are maintained to reduce microbial growth that includes viruses, bacteria, spores and fungi.
- The humidity of a cleanroom must be maintained at a consistent level to protect products being manufactured.
- Worker comfort must also be kept in mind when adjusting cleanroom air humidity.
- Too little humidity can increase static electricity which can ruin the entire process.
- Too much humidity can encourage the growth of mold and bacteria.
- Too much humidity can also create corrosion of sensitive materials, create condensation and water absorption in some products.
- Photoresist processes are very sensitive to humidity and it is of the utmost importance that the temperature and humidity be kept consistently at the optimal level
We’ll continue this topic in future blogs. In the meantime be sure to turn to SOS Cleanroom for all your cleanroom supplies.
